01 / The Brief

What the shoot was for

Nowuknow is an event collective in Sydney that hosts hip-hop, R&B and underground club nights. Its new merch, a black tee with a liquid-chrome wordmark on the front and a teal graphic across the back, needed photographs with the same attitude as the nights.

02 / On Location

How we shot it

We took the tees onto the street rather than into a studio. Over one afternoon, with two models and a single 56mm lens, the shoot moved from a rooftop car park to a lift lobby, neon shopfronts, lantern-lit streets and laneways. Each setup was shot as a short run of takes, so both prints come through, along with the way the tee sits and moves.

03 / The Edit

How it was finished

Every frame was finished in Lightroom with one grade: deep greens, warm skin and soft contrast, so the teal of the prints carries from one location to the next. Near-identical takes were kept together as sets, so there's a choice of framing and expression, and one frame was set into an old CRT television among tapes and stickers.

04 / The Set

What was delivered

Sixteen finished photographs across eight setups, from close-ups of the front print to full-length frames of the pair on the street.
